Fernando Valda

Commercial & Finance Director

Fernando is responsible for BWCE’s finance and commercial activities, helping to support the organisation’s sustainable growth and the development and financing of new community energy projects.

He has over 25 years’ experience across renewable energy, infrastructure, investment and corporate finance. During his career he has worked with organisations including RWE and EY, advising on and developing renewable energy and energy transition projects in the UK and internationally.

His experience spans solar, wind, energy storage and wider energy infrastructure, with a particular focus on commercial strategy, project finance, investment and partnerships. He is a Chartered Accountant and has also worked on initiatives supporting renewable energy and energy access in emerging markets.

Fernando is particularly excited about the opportunity to help BWCE grow at a time of unprecedented support for community energy. The Government’s Local Power Plan, backed by up to £1 billion of funding, together with the Warm Homes Plan, creates significant opportunities for organisations such as BWCE to develop new projects, form partnerships and increase the benefits delivered to local communities.

Outside work, Fernando enjoys keeping fit, riding his Ducati and spending time with his family.
