PROJECT OVERVIEW
Home Energy Neighbourhoods
Join forces with neighbours to improve energy efficiency in your home, and benefit from heavily discounted assessments and additional support.
Why does this project matter?
Making your home more energy efficient can feel overwhelming, especially when tackling it alone. That’s why we’re piloting the Home Energy Neighbourhood project, a collaborative approach where you and your neighbours work together to upgrade energy efficiency in similar homes. At BWCE, this sort of approach is at the heart of our mission as a non-profit community organisation.
You can take part whether you’re yet to book in an assessment with us, or if you’ve already had one.
Our project aims
Our goal is to explore whether working with groups of similar homes can save time, reduce costs, and make the process of energy upgrades more manageable – and even enjoyable – for everyone involved!
What is a Home Energy Neighbourhood?
By being part of a Home Energy Neighbourhood, participants receive:
-
If you host a get-together with your neighbours, you’ll receive an assessment at a heavily discounted rate of £45 (average RRP £500/600). Your guests will also be able to book an assessment at the same discounted rate.
Learn more about Home Energy Efficiency Plans and Heat Pump Assessments.
If your home is a listed building we offer further options, such as advice on getting listed building consent. Let us know, we’re happy to discuss.
If you’ve already had a home energy assessment from us you can still get involved by hosting a get-together - see below.
-
Once you’ve had a survey, all you have to do is invite your neighbours round (at least three or more households). We’ll then facilitate a sociable get-together to:
Discuss what could be done in similar type houses
Explore opportunities for joint quotes on upgrades like insulation, windows or heat pumps
Optionally use thermal imaging cameras and/or blower door test to highlight opportunities
Discuss next steps for planning or listed building applications.
A BWCE energy assessor will facilitate the session and provide guidance, and there is a small catering budget for refreshments.
