RENEWABLES
PERFORMANCE

Our renewable energy projects have generated from 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026

13,875 MWh

Ground-mounted solar panels in BANES supported by local investment.

That’s a fraction below target for the year as a whole.

Equivalent to the electrical demand from 5,139 homes during that period

Equivalent to 149,789 journeys from Bath to Edinburgh via train

Meaning a carbon reduction equivalent to 2,720 tonnes CO2e

Retaining income that would otherwise drain out of the local area worth:

£ 1,065,400

BWCE Energy projects performance – Year to date

  • All CO2 figures are in tonnes of CO2 equivalent (CO2e), meaning that they take into account global heating potential of all greenhouse gases, but expressed in terms of the global heating potential of one unit of CO2.

Data assumptions on electricity demand during period from a number of typical homes
Assumes 2,700 kWh per year consumed by a typical home without electric storage heaters. From Ofgem https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/average-gas-and-electricity-usage.

    Data assumptions on tonnes CO2e
Assumes 0.22535 kgCO2e/kWh generated. Includes losses from transmission and distribution. From https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/greenhouse-gasreporting-conversion-factors-2024.

Data assumptions on number of journeys from Bath to Edinburgh via train
Assumes 0.03546 kgCO2e/passenger km for national rail travel. From https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/greenhouse-gas-reporting-conversionfactors-2024.

Data assumptions on money retained in the local area
Assumes that approximately 35% of BWCE's annual income is retained locally and is spread pro rata across the year in line with the level of generation in the year to date. Within a traditional commercial project, it is assumed that virtually all project income is exported out of the area.
