Jonathon Porritt joins screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing
Jonathon Porritt joins screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing in Bath – Monday 8 June.
Bath & West Community Energy and St Michael’s Without Church in Bath are delighted to welcome Jonathon Porritt to the panel to bring a special screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing on climate and nature on Monday 8 June 2026, 7-8.30pm.
Jonathon Porritt, campaigner and author
In November 2025, the National Emergency Briefing brought together leading experts to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians and other influential people in Westminster.
The next step is to bring this vital message to people within our own communities and across the UK, to hear the evidence and discuss how to respond. Jonathon Porritt, campaigner and author will share his reaction to the film and answer questions along with Pete Capener, MD of Bath & West Community Energy and Ruth Lambert, CEO of Share & Repair.
“BWCE is committed to taking positive action at this critical time for our climate and nature. It makes perfect sense to join with other groups, bringing together others who share our commitment to watch this screening and discuss the action we can take locally.” - Pete Capener, MD, BWCE
"Hosting the People's Emergency Briefing at St Michael's Without reflects our responsibility as a community to face difficult truths together. This film invites us to pause, reflect, and consider how each of us can respond with care, resilience, and a shared sense of purpose. It is important viewing because it challenges complacency and calls us to act – for one another and for the future we are shaping.” - Revd. Roger Driver
It's a shocking but also inspiring watch that unpacks some climate issues and makes them relevant to everyday life. And there is also hope.
The film is not just about the threat of climate and nature breakdown but also about agency and collective action, something that will be explored further at the end of the film.
