What is it?

The Futureproof Full Home Retrofit Survey & Plan is a detailed, whole-house retrofit plan to help you upgrade your home’s energy efficiency with confidence.

This feeds into a comprehensive report complete with information on your home’s condition and key improvement options, illustrated by multiple retrofit scenarios tailored to your home.

A dedicated debrief session then walks you through the findings and answers your questions.

Ideal for larger or full-home projects, it helps you reduce risks involved with retrofit work, target your investment wisely and get the results you want.

For a lighter option, see our Home Energy Efficiency Plan.

Your Futureproof Survey & Plan will include

Home visit and full survey

A home visit including full measured survey and condition assessment by one of our expert energy assessors.

Debrief session

Once you’ve had time to review your report, you have the option of a follow-up call (of up to one hour) with your assessor. This is your chance to ask any questions, understand the recommendations in more detail, and get advice on your next steps.

Comprehensive report

A full (80+page) report addressing all recommended measures - from window upgrades to renewable technology - including detailed guidance on technical issues and further works to consider.

Detailed guidance

Analysis including multiple retrofit scenarios based on detailed energy modelling, tailored to your desired outcomes in terms of cost saving, comfort and carbon.

Read our Futureproof Information Sheet prior to purchase to make sure you know what is, and isn’t, included in a Futureproof survey.

FAQs

  • A Futureproof Survey is a detailed whole house survey with a bespoke options appraisal report, which recommends the most cost-effective and impactful energy and carbon reduction measures for your home. It will include:

    • Home visit and full survey – Firstly one of our expert retrofit surveyors visits your home to conduct a full measured survey to understand how your house performs.

    • Detailed guidance – We’ll consider all the options most relevant to your home, carrying our detailed energy modelling based on your actual energy consumption, and your priorities in terms of cost saving, comfort and carbon.

    • Comprehensive report – then we’ll create a detailed, bespoke report (80+ pages), which presents a range of recommended retrofit scenarios for your home. In this report we’ll look at all the measures you could implement, and focus on those that can deliver the biggest impacts for you, based on the objectives that you want to achieve, such as saving carbon, saving money and/or improvements to comfort. With each scenario we’ll show you the likely costs involved, what savings you might expect, how works could be phased over time, and highlight issues you may need to address before or alongside undertaking the work, such as planning requirements.

    • Debrief session – after you’ve received your report, there’s an opportunity for a follow up consultation (up to an hour) so that you can ask any questions and explore next steps.

While a detailed Futureproof Survey is a powerful tool to help you understand the options most suitable for your home, it does have limitations:

    • It does not cover any separate buildings such as a separate annex building, only the main property.

    • It does not recommend specific contractors to carry out retrofit works.

    • It does not tell you exactly what action to take – instead, it makes recommendations and presents scenarios that can help you decide your preferred course of action.

    • It does not include securing statutory permissions (planning, building control etc).

    • It’s not a detailed retrofit works specification, and so doesn’t include bespoke retrofit solutions for specific parts of the house (e.g. construction detail drawings), prescribe which materials or construction methodology should be used, or specify particular systems or products.

    • It does not typically involve invasive work during the survey.

If you are unsure whether the detailed retrofit survey and plan is the right service for you, please email us at home.energy@bwce.coop to arrange a suitable time for one of our team to call you.

To allow time for our analysis and review process you’ll receive your report within 20 working days from the date of your survey.
