Our 2026 AGM took place on Wednesday 16th September.

Highlights for the year ended March 2026 were;
Stronger national support for community energy through the Local Power Plan.
WECA gained Tier 1 authority status, meaning a multi-year finance settlement and more control over how to spend it. In recent years WECA has been instrumental to the success of community energy in the sub-region.
Major solar projects progressed and £2.6m fundraised.
Our Managing Director, Pete Capener is currently taking a well-earned 2-month sabbatical, and a highly experienced Finance Director, Fernando Valda, has been appointed.

The AGM supported the following resolutions with 104 members voting, including online votes;
Adoption of audited accounts for 2025-26 are adopted. (104 approved, 0 against, 0 abstained)
Proposal for member interest of 7% on shares issued before February 2019. (103 approved, 0 against, 1 abstain)
Proposal for member interest of 5.75% on shares issued since February 2019. (103 approved, 1 against, 0 abstain)
Proposal for payment of £50,000 to the community fund (103 approved, 1 against, 0 abstain)
Reappointment of auditors The Alanbrookes Group Ltd of 24 Glove Factory Studios, Holt, Wiltshire BA14 6RL, are re-appointed as auditor of BWCE's group and 10 subsidiary accounts for 2025-26. (103 approved, 1 against, 0 abstained)
