Nick Bird

Community Engagement Consultant

Nick formerly managed the team that delivers communications and community engagement activities to support BWCE’s renewables, home energy and community benefit work. He is now transitioning into semi-retirement at the end of 2026 and is currently mentoring the community engagement team, passing on his knowledge and skills.

He has over 40 years of experience of working for not-for-profit organisations in Sheffield, Leeds, London, Wiltshire and Bath. His previous work includes managing community projects and events, promoting community engagement, recruiting and managing volunteers, delivering training workshops to community groups and managing a training programme for people with disabilities.

He helped to set up a local community festival where he lives in Larkhall, Bath and aims one day to finish one of the several novels he has started!
