Community Energy Fortnight 2024

People across the country came together in a two week-long celebration of community energy run by Community Energy England. This year, the campaign was all about empowerment: #EmpowerCommunityEnergy

Here you’ll find the content we created to celebrate the exciting initiatives we are involved in within our community to increase renewable electricity generation, reduce carbon emissions and support community groups in their work to reduce carbon and waste and support people in fuel poverty.

What community energy means to us

At BWCE, community energy is about working together to create sustainable and resilient change within our local community and for the planet. We want to inspire more people to get involved, during Community Energy Fortnight and beyond.  We know that together we can empower local initiatives, reduce our environmental impact, and build a brighter, more equal future for all.

We’ve created a special Community Energy Fortnight edition of the BWCE Newsletter to read and share with family, friends and within your community networks.  You can download the newsletter below, and if you are not already on our mailing list then feel free to sign up.

This video features adventurer, documentary film maker and climate activist, James Levelle as he visits Sir Bernard Lovell School, the site of our biggest school rooftop installation to date.

Projects like this are all made possible by the investment of our members. To understand more about how to invest and become a member we ran a webinar during Community Energy Fortnight when our MD Pete Capener explained all about ‘Buying Shares in Bath & West Community Energy – an ethical investment for you, your community and the planet’. You can watch a recording of the webinar at the link below.
