Our latest Meet-Up for BWCE members and supporters was a lunchtime ‘Solar Walk’ in the Lyncombe area of Bath on 26th July led by BWCE member Steve Cross. Twelve adults, two children and two dogs took part in the circular walk which started and finished in Alexandra Park in Bath.
Steve, as Chair of Go Green Widcombe, was instrumental in developing their group-buy solar scheme for homeowners. As part of this work he went around and mapped out all the solar panels in the area.
Steve was able to show us solar on different types of property in the area and took us to the local community run environmental project at Lyncombe Hill Fields. Along the way Steve shared his encyclopaedic knowledge of the local history of the area, including the history of food growing (including vineyards), water mills and floods.
Overall it was a really enjoyable walk through parts of the centre of Bath which are, effectively, part of the countryside, full of fields and trees. And another great chance for members and supporters to network.
More Meet-Ups will be planned over the coming months. If you want to join one but haven’t yet signed up to our Supporters Network you can do so HERE
