Nick Bird

Communications and Community Outreach Co-ordinator

Nick joined BWCE in August 2018 to develop our communications and community outreach work. He has been involved in community projects, network development, volunteer management and training for over 30 years, working in Sheffield, Leeds and London before settling in Bath in 2003.

He has run projects to promote community engagement in Wiltshire, Enfield, Hammersmith & Fulham and Leeds. At a national level he has worked with community organisations to help them to understand and engage with Government policy (Urban Forum) and to network and share knowledge (The Quest Trust). This included projects to help communities and local authorities collaborate better and various policy and networking events in partnership with organisations across England.

Nick has extensive experience of delivering training, both as a freelance trainer and as an associate of Neighbourhood Initiatives Foundation, Tenant Participation Advisory Service andLondon Voluntary Services Council. He has managed volunteers for a community arts centre, an FE College and a local Mencap branch and, as a volunteer himself, has been involved in developing a Local Exchange Trading Scheme (LETS) in London, the Larkhall Festival in Bath and the recently formed Bath Co-operative Alliance.
