BWCE’s work is expanding and consequently we have grown our team and developed new roles for existing team members. Here is an update of the new additions and changes.
Home Energy
We are building a strong team, led by our Home Energy Service Manager Cathy Crozier Cole, to deliver work around domestic energy efficiency. This is a new area of work for BWCE supported by grants from The Energy Redress Scheme and The Local Energy Advice Demonstrator Programme.
Jonny Logsdon joined us in August as a Retrofit Coordinator. Jonny has over 20 years’ experience as an architect, and has run his own practice for 17 years. He is a certified passive house designer and qualified PAS 2035 retrofit coordinator. He has experience of working on new-build, retrofit and historic buildings of varying scale and complexity. He has worked on an extensive range of building types from homes, community centres, schools, offices, and commercial premises. Alongside the delivery of low-energy projects, he has hands-on experience of retrofit and self-build projects.
In September Jonny and Cathy were joined by Sally Merrett as Home Energy Lead Assessor. Sally has a MSc in Renewable Energy and a BSc in Energy Studies and 30 years business experience. She has managed carbon reduction projects for the Welsh Assembly Government and Birmingham City Council’s building stock, as well as numerous large and small scale renewable energy projects. Sally is currently undertaking a deep retrofit of her own Victorian house to improve energy efficiency and end its reliance on gas.
Operations and Administration
Jenny Knight has joined us as Administrator. Jenny has a wealth of experience in various administration roles, working in both Charity and Education settings including Anti-Slavery International, Children on the Edge, Renewable World, Bristol University and West Dean College of Arts and Conservation.
Jenny will be working closely with Alex Jones, our Operations Manager, who has returned from maternity leave. Together Alex and Jenny will be ensuring that our operational systems meet the needs of a growing organisation and the various projects have the administrative support they require.
Communications and Outreach
In order to bring in community investment to support our growing renewables pipeline, to promote our new energy efficiency work and to build a greater awareness of BWCE we have created a new Communications & Outreach Team led by Nick Bird, our Community Engagement Manager.
Julia O’Connor, who has been predominantly working with Flex Community, will now be overseeing external and internal communications across the organisation as our Marketing & Communications Coordinator.
Dinah Darby, who was maternity cover for Alex Jones, has stepped into the role of Events & Networking Coordinator to deliver a programme of events and outreach/networking activities.
