AGM 2020

Our AGM in 2020 will be held at 2.30pm on the afternoon of Saturday 12th September. The formal notice and agenda for this year’s AGM (2.30pm on 12th September via Zoom) can be found here. As a result of the restrictions caused by the Covid 19 pandemic we are also planning for our AGM to be held via Zoom.

This year marks the 10 year anniversary of the launch of BWCE. We had been hoping to celebrate with you all in person over the summer months. Sadly, we are not in a position to arrange any large gatherings at the moment. As soon as this position changes we will, of course, organise a suitable celebration.


As we enter our second decade, this is an important time for both BWCE and humanity as a whole. We have many new renewable energy projects under development and are exploring exciting new approaches to expanding our community energy model to better meet the urgent challenges of the climate crisis.

At the meeting, we will be discussing with you this year’s progress on developing new renewables projects and delivering our innovation projects around demand management and grid services. We will also be sharing our plans for this year too, in the run up to a refresh of our business plan.

AGM Resolutions

At the meeting we will be presenting and seeking member approval for.

  • our audited accounts for 2019-20, here;
  • proposals for this year’s member interest and community fund payments. See here for our briefing on the change to how we plan to set the target rate for shares taken out before February 2019. See here for a set of FAQs that have come out of questions raised with us since the proposals were announced earlier this year and during the 2 online member meetings on the proposals that were held in July.
  • a proposal to increase our elected members from 5 to 6. See here for more details.
  • the re-appointment of our auditors, Alan Brookes.

Board Elections

We will be selecting 2 new non-executive directors for BWCE’s board. Four excellent candidates have put their names forward. As always, we are excited by their skills and experience, as well as their enthusiasm for BWCE and what we are trying to achieve. We will announce the result of the member ballot at the AGM.

The vote is open to all BWCE members.

You will be receiving the timings of the meeting, agenda and voting instructions before 24th August. Everyone will have the opportunity to cast votes for the election of Directors and other AGM resolutions online prior to the meeting itself. Details of how to do this will be issued with the agenda and papers.
