We are very sad to announce the death of Carole Bond, who was a trustee of the BWCE Fund from its inception in 2014 onwards. Carole played a key role in the development and strategic direction of the Fund. She had an extraordinary depth and breadth of knowledge as well as a selfless devotion to making the world a better place. She was a changemaker through and through.

An environmental scientist, sustainability practitioner, marketing professional and coach, Carole had 35 years’ experience working in and with businesses and organisations of all sizes and across many sectors in the UK and across Europe.

She had wide ranging experience of engaging businesses on resource efficiency issues and investigating and developing alternative business models to support the shift towards a low carbon, circular economy. She co-developed a change programme methodology to support business transitions from linear to circular working.

Carole worked extensively on issues of climate adaptation and mitigation in both the public and private sector and additionally collaborated with the UK’s Chartered Institute of Marketing, for whom she spent nine years as a responsible marketing champion, on embedding sustainability into marketing practice.

“Carole was a huge asset to the BWCE Fund. She was a systems thinker who had detailed technical knowledge and a highly incisive and strategic mind. She was also endlessly optimistic, full of laughter and the life and soul of any gathering. We will miss her enormously and our thoughts are with her husband and family at this difficult time.”
