On 3rd February 2021 over 140 people attended a BWCE webinar focusing on the role of community owned wind energy in helping us meet our climate change commitments.

The webinar explored the role, potential and benefits of community owned wind power both generally and in the context of the Bath & North East Somerset Council Local Plan consultation (but also of interest to communities in the parts of both Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire that fall within the BWCE area of benefit).

Speakers (see presentations below):

  • Jodie Giles, Senior Project Manager responsible for the delivery of the community energy support programme at Regen.
  • George Blanchard, Planning Officer (Planning Policy) for Bath & North East Somerset Council.
  • Sara Grimes, Corporate Sustainability Officer Bath & North East Somerset Council.
  • Pete Capener, Managing Director of BWCE.

Following the webinar over 60 people expressed an interest in joining a network to support community owned wind power in the BWCE area. We are planning to hold an initial online meeting for the network soon after Easter 2021. If you would like to get involved please let us know.
